Disaster Mediation Training

For experienced mediators that are seeking guidance in the area of disaster mediation, Mr. Rubin can provide training that is based
on your current experience level, the focus of your interest, and the current status of disaster mediation within your state.
A typical one-day training seminar can include:
how disaster differs from typical civil mediation, including differences in the process and sensitivity surrounding the emotional
state of the parties (the victim of the disaster);
the party with whom the victim will be mediating: typically an insurance company, although occasionally a government agency, such
as FEMA;
substantive insurance law: what types of insurance are involved, what the insurance policies typically include, deductibles, and
exclusions;
possible media implications;
how to get on state and local rosters put out by government agencies interested in creating a stable of mediators for natural
disasters.
A training session is typically conducted as a component of a larger consultation on disaster mediation. For more information on Mr.
